😎 "Keeping It Real" on Social Media

Happy Tuesday Reader,

I wanted to share a story with you about an experience of mine that highlights the importance of showing the face(s) behind your business

I had just read a post over on Facebook that I really liked. It came from a local tech company. It was a great post. They talked about a change they were making in the company and used lots of first-person language. "I am making this change because I feel..." You get the idea. So I clicked on their profile to learn more about them. I chose to follow them at some point but couldn't remember who they were or why I followed.

Then, after scrolling for a bit, I left. Without reaching out, which I planned to do. Why? There was not one single photo of a real person from that company. Not one. It was stock photos, graphics, and articles. I was going to reach out. But I didn't.

As humans, we are wired to connect to other humans. No matter how successful your organization is, or how impressive your facts, figures, and statistics are, there's something very powerful about seeing the people who are behind the scenes. Professionalism and polished content are great and certainly have their place when advertising your business but if you aren't showing the human side of things, you're missing a huge opportunity to connect with your audience.

So, take the leap and try adding some photos of yourself and your staff! It can be scary and make you feel a little vulnerable at first but IT WORKS (and it gets easier with practice!)

Show the real you and the real people behind your company. It will make a difference. I promise!
